Our Process

1. Build Our Case

Incurring storm damages to your home is disheartening and stressful as is. You should not have to handle the entire storm claims process on top of it all. When you work with J. Hempel Services, you can feel confident that you are in the best hands. In establishing your claim, we carefully assess all storm-related damages and to ensure the insurance company provides you with fair and just compensation, we create a comprehensive preliminary report. Once complete, we submit it to the insurance company’s claim department. This report will include any or all of the following:

  • Documenting
  • Photographs
  • Preliminary Estimate of Scope of Work
  • Code Requirements
  • Law and Ordinance Obligations
  • Aerial Images

2. Submit Claim

After we submit the report, we will receive a confirmation of the claim origination within 24-48 hours. Following, a claim number and field adjuster will be assigned to your claim. We then will schedule a time for the field adjuster to meet at your home.

3. Field Adjuster Inspection

As this tends to be the most important stage in the storms claims process, our specialists will be there to handle the entire meeting with the field adjuster(s).  Throughout the meeting, we will collaborate and discuss the damages in order to maximize the settlement, thus minimizing your out-of-pocket expenses.

4. Summary of Loss Report & Negotiation

The Summary of Loss Report is the paperwork the insurance company will submit with their preliminary settlement. Often times, the preliminary settlement will not be paid properly, initiating the negotiation process. Although this can take several days, in submitting our supplemental reports, we can make sure that there is nothing missed or undervalued in the claim. With this, our goal is to come to agreement on the settlement value before we begin any work.

5. Begin Work

At this stage, you will have one point of contact who is there to communicate and coordinate with you through the entirety of the restoration. You can have as little or as much involvement as you want in this and from our collaboration, our licensed and insured tradesmen, who specialize in residential projects, work to exceed expectations, while reaching project completion in a timely and orderly manner. At this stage, you can expect:

  • We will work with the city for all permits and inspections
  • We will meet or exceed all OSHA Compliance for safety
  •  We install top of the line materials from IKO, Malarkey, and GAF (or your preferred manufacturer)
  • We provide a 5-year Workmanship Warranty on all labor
  • Particular top of the line materials offers an additional 15 years of coverage (if used)

6. Project Completion

This is our favorite stage of the process because once the project is fully complete, we feel very fortunate that we were able to help restore the security and comfort your home provided your family with before the storm. Here, we will also send our final invoice to the insurance company, and they will release depreciated fund held back at this time. We will invoice you for that same amount, ensuring the only payment you would be responsible for is the deductible in making the claim, as this is now the law in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.
